Prime Time

This after-school counseling and support program for children who have experienced trauma helps them improve coping skills during twice-weekly sessions.  Referred to YWCA Lowell through the Department of Children and Families, young people in the program learn about conflict management, motivation, decision-making, taking responsibility, and communication. These skills are explored through art, games, physical activity, civic engagement, community services, and field learning experiences.  Door-to-door bus transportation is provided to and from the program, as well as hearty, nutritious snacks.

YWCA staff conduct periodic home visits as well, and encourage parents, guardians and foster parents to attend social events and a year-end completion celebration of the young people.
